Our Guest Jennifer Eivaz
ROY: Well hello! I’m Roy Fields and you’re watching Something More and my guest today is Jennifer Eivaz! And I want to get into her story and find out a little bit about her! Welcome to the program!
JENNIFER: Thank you!
ROY: Great to see you.
JENNIFER: Thanks for having me!
ROY: Yeah! It’s great to be here!
JENNIFER: That’s fine.
ROY: So I want to ask you right off the bat when did you come to Christ?
JENNIFER: I came to Christ as a freshman in college. I actually grew up as a Mormon and you know had people praying for us including some neighbors and family of course. And out of desperation we had a family member who invited us to a very small Pentecostal church. You know all the things you would think –
ROY: Sure.
JENNIFER: About a small Pentecostal church! That kind of church and we actually went. My mother, my step sister – or excuse me my mother, myself and my half-sister.
ROY: Yeah.
JENNIFER: And we actually went and God touched me! He touched me in that service, that very strict Pentecostal church He touched me! And one of the Pentecostal ladies she sat next to me and asked me if I wanted to give my life to Christ and I said of course! And then she asked me if I want to get baptized in the Holy Spirit and I said okay! I didn’t know what that was but I began to speak in tongues and so that was the new beginning that happened in my life!
ROY: So that was real!
JENNIFER: It was totally real! [laughs]
ROY: So had you seen anything like that before?
JENNIFER: I would watch Jim Bakker. [laughs]
ROY: Okay. Sure.
JENNIFER: And not in a way to – not because I was curious. More to mock and just you know that was my idea of Christianity. So I didn’t want much of that and so that was my real view of it and then I ended up in a Pentecostal church and got baptized in the Holy Spirit and been on fire ever since!
ROY: But take me through that, after you gave your life to Christ,
JENNIFER: Uh-huh.
ROY: So everything just became easy? You had no struggles? You had no problems?
JENNIFER: You know the first year I would say it was a honeymoon!
ROY: Okay.
JENNIFER: It really was. Learning how to you know live out my faith. Gave up my friends that I didn’t need to have.
ROY: Okay.
JENNIFER: Began to learn – I remember learning 1st John 1:9. I was memorizing the very basic scriptures to help me in my foundation.
ROY: Sure.
JENNIFER: Went to a Baptist church for a little while in the area before I moved on to a more Pentecostal church cause I wanted to fill the spirit and so the Baptist church didn’t have that although they had some very good foundational teaching. And then that first year was great and then things began to shift. All of a sudden I started losing my peace. It felt like the peace of God left my house. I started feeling like a perceptible darkness around me, things that I hadn’t felt since prior to Christianity. And I started noticing that there was some darkness moving into my world. I just didn’t know why. And then at a prayer service, at a prayer meeting that I had been attending, a lady she was looking at me and she had concern all over her and she looked at me and she said I see a spirit of sorcery standing over you and then when she said that something picked me up and threw me against the wall and I went into a what I would call a grand mal demonic manifestation.
