Our Guest Laurie Ditto
LAURIE: To hear that. Because I’ve done a lot of wrong things. But I didn’t think I’d done that one.
RYAN: Right. Right.
LAURIE: But it was true when I was saying it.
RYAN: But that’s what came up out of you.
LAURIE: Right. You know, I have this fear of man, and I wanted to be liked. And so you would behave differently.
RYAN: Wow. And you’re telling the Lord all of these things?
LAURIE: Yeah. And it’s just coming right out. And He would ask again. And it was as if He was grabbing and pulling all of that pain,
RYAN: Ah.
LAURIE: Out of me.
RYAN: Right.
LAURIE: And when I was old I told Him things like, “I don’t believe You are who You say You are. I don’t believe You’re going to do everything” and none of it bothered Him.
RYAN: I was going to ask you. You teach in your CDs and in your book that those kinds of questions don’t bother the Lord.
LAURIE: No. [laughs]
RYAN: He knows how to handle it. Right?
LAURIE: Right. I think we’re more shocked than,
RYAN: Yeah.
LAURIE: He already knows the answer.
RYAN: Right. Exactly. But go ahead.
LAURIE: So then, He, once it was all out, He said to me, He said, “Laurie, those things were true about you before I saved you.”
RYAN: Wow. Wow.
LAURIE: And it was so refreshing to know that that salvation includes more than we understand it that day. Can you imagine being wiped clean? And that what He does. On the day that the Lord saves us, He makes us holy,
RYAN: Uh-hmm.
LAURIE: And sanctified before Him. And then He put His arm out, like this. And so, He put His right arm, and I put my left arm right on top of His. And we began walking. And He’s so important. And He’s needed everywhere. But I was so important.
RYAN: Wow.
LAURIE: He wanted to spend that time with me.
RYAN: Wow.
LAURIE: So, He began walking me through the gardens.
RYAN: Wow.
LAURIE: And I was very happy to be in the gardens there. It’s stunning. And there are beautiful waterfalls, and beautiful park benches, and very comfortable chairs and things out there to sit in. And He was walking me to a place in the gardens that – I was just drawn to this place. I wanted to sit down in this place.
RYAN: Yeah.
LAURIE: And when I sat there – He was very excited that this was the place that I had chosen,
RYAN: Yeah.
LAURIE: To rest. And I looked. And there was a statue. There are many statues in heaven’s parks. But this statue was of Jesus and me.
RYAN: Wow.
LAURIE: There were statues of people that were important to Him.
RYAN: Yeah. Yeah.
LAURIE: But this one was of me. And you know, I mean, to see that. I know that father’s on the earth carry their children’s pictures in their wallet.
RYAN: Right. Exactly.
LAURIE: And to know that I am so important that Jesus made a statue,
RYAN: [laughs]
LAURIE: Of us together. You know, it just does something to you.
RYAN: Yeah.
LAURIE: To know, to see the love of God.
RYAN: It’s healing.
LAURIE: [laughs]
RYAN: I imagine, that stuff. Right?
LAURIE: And connecting.
RYAN: Connecting.
LAURIE: You know, to know how much He loves us, how could we doubt that He loves us? And when I saw it, it’s – You know, just sharing it with you makes you feel, kind of, really important. [laughs]
RYAN: I know. I’m pretty special is what you think.
LAURIE: That’s right. That’s’ right.
RYAN: Okay.
LAURIE: I didn’t see your statue there yet.
RYAN: Yeah. It’s up there someplace.
LAURIE: But I’m sure it’s there.
RYAN: I’m one of God’s favorites. [laughs]
LAURIE: That’s right. That’s right.
RYAN: So you tell people that you’re homesick for heaven. I would imagine you experience this stuff all the time, and it makes you homesick.
LAURIE: Oh. You know, I really like who I am in heaven.
RYAN: Yeah.
LAURIE: Because, like, as I said, there are things that are in heaven that are not here, and there are things here that are not in heaven.
RYAN: Right.
LAURIE: Doubt.
RYAN: Hmm.
LAURIE: Despair. There is no self-hatred in heaven. Not that I suffer with that. But when I use to, it’s gone there.
RYAN: Right.
LAURIE: Truth, and purity, and knowledge, being accepted.
RYAN: You know you’re home.
LAURIE: It’s so welcoming. And you know everybody there.
RYAN: When we come back [music] we’re going to talk with Laurie more about heaven. I mean, these stories are incredible. I hope you’re feeling that pull of the love of the Father as we chat. We’ll be right back.
